About Charles Sturt University

The Wagga Experiment Farm was established in 1892, marking the beginning of Charles Sturt University's history. The purpose of the farm was to teach local farmers and students about agriculture. That was the first move they took to bring together industry, communities, and individuals in order to truly change things.


Since then, the university has expanded significantly by cooperating with government and business, establishing new research and learning centers, and merging with other educational institutions.


In accordance with the Charles Sturt University Act 1989, Charles Sturt University was formally incorporated on July 19, 1989. They are currently the biggest online university in Australia as well as the largest regional university*.
